In conversation with Dr. Aditi Paul: Struggles, successes and learnings in academic publishing

In this episode, we invited Dr. Aditi Paul, assistant professor at Pace University in NYC to talk about her experiences publishing her first academic book - 'The Current Collegiate Hookup Culture', where she advocates moving past traditional assumptions to really understand the current hookup culture on American college campuses.

In this conversation geared toward folks interested in publishing a book, she answers three questions:

  1. What constitutes an 'academic' book? Who is the audience and who buys your book?

  2. The 'publishing' journey: What is the process of finding (or being contacted) by a publisher? How long is the process from start to finish? What is most time consuming?

  3. What advice would you have for someone trying to do what you did? If you had to do it again, what would you do differently?

If you have further questions, please get in touch and we will connect you with Dr. Paul.
