Communication Conferences to Consider This Year

Here is a great listing of communication conferences to attend. Some of these conferences are academic, and others are industry-focused. A few of them have student chapters.

The National Communication Association (NCA) is a not-for-profit academic association that serves scholars, teachers, and practitioners in the field of communication. They have an annual conference every November.


The International Communication Association (ICA) is an NGO that aims to advance the scholarly study of human communication by encouraging and facilitating excellence in academic research worldwide. Their annual conference is held every May in different parts of the world.


The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication is a nonprofit organization of educators, students and practitioners from around the globe. It is the oldest and largest alliance of journalism and mass communication educators and administrators at the college level. Their annual conference is in August every year.


The Broadcast Education Association (BEA) is an international academic media organization, driving insights, excellence in media production, and career advancement for educators, students, and professionals. Their annual symposium is in April every year.


The Association of National Advertisers drives growth for marketing professionals, for brands and businesses. They organize several national industry conferences around non-profit federations, data and analytics and experiential / content / influencer marketing, media, brand activation, etc.


The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) provides members a wealth of innovative professional development programs, lifelong learning opportunities and leading-edge resources to enhance their knowledge at every stage of their PR career. They organize several regional conferences as well as one big annual conference called ICON every year in October. They also have an active and vibrant student association called PRSSA with events such as the Leadership Assembly, International Conference, and district conferences.


The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) serves professionals in the field of business communication, bringing together the profession’s collective disciplines. Their world conference usually takes place around June every year.


Page is the world's leading professional association for senior public relations and corporate communications executives and educators. They have an annual conference around September / October every year.


The Institute for Public Relations is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation dedicated to fostering greater use of research and research-based knowledge in public relations and corporate communication practice. They have several annual events and symposiums.


The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations is the leading professional development association exclusively serving those working in communication at two-year community and technical colleges. They have an annual conference around March. (This association is best suited for academic administrators)


The Public Affairs Council (PAC) is for public affairs professionals. It might be relevant to those interested in government relations, communications, issues management and corporate citizenship strategies to influence public policy. They have a national conference in February and a variety of summits and other conferences as well.
