Looking to donate to education? This is a great list.

Donating to charity is noble. It impacts your community, inspires generosity and you get a tax deductions as well. Sometimes, if your employers match your donations, it even doubles your impact.


In this post, I am writing to encourage you to consider donating to organizations that are working in the field of education. Many of these organizations focus on essential, quality education that prepare children to develop into responsible and successful citizens.


Most on the list below are US-based and your donation directly impacts students here.


Scholarship America works directly with students, parents, colleges, businesses and communities to help students fulfill their college dreams. Since it was founded in 1958, Scholarship America has distributed $4.3 billion to more than 2.6 million students … and counting.


Pro Literacy, the largest adult literacy and basic education membership organization in the US, believes that a safer, stronger, and more sustainable society starts with an educated adult population. ProLiteracy has been working across the globe to change lives and communities through the power of literacy.


Adoptaclassroom.org is a platform where you can give where it is really needed. You can fund a teacher or a school. They have STEM funds, inclusive classroom funds, COVID-19 relief funds, etc.


Donors Choose: Great way to help a teacher in need. Find a project that inspires you and give as little as $1.


Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation keeps music alive in schools by providing vital support services to school districts, and new musical instruments to underfunded music programs nationwide, giving economically-disadvantaged youth access to the many benefits of music education, leading them to success in school, and inspiring creativity and expression through playing music.


First Book: believes that education is the best way out of poverty for children in need. It aims to remove barriers to quality education for all kids by making everything from new, high-quality books and educational resources to sports equipment, winter coats, snacks, and more – affordable to its member network of more than 500,000 educators who exclusively serve kids in need.


Khan Academy: is a nonprofit with the mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.


Citizen Schools helps all students thrive in school and beyond through hands-on learning and career mentors.


The Posse Foundation does four things as part of its student recruitment process: Assessment, pre-collegiate training, campus program, and a career program. The Posse model works for both students and college campuses and is rooted in the belief that a small, diverse group of talented students—a Posse—carefully selected and trained, can serve as a catalyst for individual and community development.


Save the Children: works in the United States and around the world to reach those children who are missing out most on learning. They help children get ready for kindergarten and learn to read by third grade — a major indicator of future success. They are especially focused on reaching vulnerable children in rural America where early learning resources are scarce.
